Why you top dress your lawn?

Top dressing is the application of washed sand to an established lawn. It’s very beneficial as it evens out any low areas, fills in holes, helps the grass to re-establish and spread itself, and improves surface drainage.

All new lawns should have a top dress to achieve best results. Top dressing fills in the hollows and gives your lawn a flat finished surface and better presentation after mowing.

When applying top dress sand, the tips of the grass should show through to ensure the turf is not smothered. A new lawn should be top dressed 6-8 weeks after installation. We recommend a washed river sand.

Do not top dress during the autumn or winter months. We suggest leaving it and topdressing between October and January for best results.
